About Me

What is health? How do I eat well without feeling like I’m starving? I don’t have time for exercise, what do I do? Dun Da Da! (< that’s the super hero blip sound) Ashley to the rescue!

Since I graduated college with considerably less than zero money, this blog documents the various ways I manage to make a healthy life for my boyfriend and I without spending a fortune. It is the interior of my mind, a melding of food, workout ideas, and a little bit of much-needed inspiration. I can honestly say that I’m a very happy lass overall and I don’t want anyone to ever feel that they can’t reach that point too.

This blog is not intended as an example of perfection, just a show of the baby steps it takes to achieve a healthier, sustainable lifestyle. SUSTAINABLE being the key word. It’s a struggle for all of us but the key is to take it one day, one step at a time so that backward steps rarely happen.

I’m here to wade through the annoying, time-consuming, expensive stuff and present you with the entirely reachable and totally worthwhile. So please read! Maybe you’ll actually try something and love it.

Ashley, always enjoy your blog. My hubby and I are kindof in a rut here. we are in our sixtys, joined Max Living and I completed six or seven months of it. He joined later and then he started having health problems…neuropathy and swelling of his legs due to diabetes. We drove to OK for Christmas and since returning, he has had a lot of burning/itching in his legs/feet. He is on a lot of lasix (water pills) and has lost a good amount of water in his legs this past two weeks. But it keeps him home near the bathroom a lot. Meantime, neither of us is doing the chiropractic we had wanted to do and the many trips to go there. Celebrating 45 years of marriage this weekend!! Not sure what we will do. any suggestions? Thanking God for all the memories!
    love, Carolyn

Carolyn, your husband’s name is Stan right? I remember him. I talked to him for a bit and remember his X-rays. I can’t discuss much over the internet but I will say that there is MUCH he could improve on as far as spine and nutrition. You know we’d love to help over at Max Living.
I know he can’t leave the house much but give us a call. We can try to figure out a way to help him. Please don’t lose hope. There are always ways back to health.
Happy Anniversary! Hopefully we hear from you soon.

I’ve recently switched my food blog over to be self-hosted which I hope will make it more user-friendly in the future. As a result, if you were following Can’t Stay Out of the Kitchen via email, WordPress, or using RSS feeds through Google Reader or some other way, you are no longer subscribed. If you wish to continue receiving future posts from my blog you will need to re-subscribe. Sorry for the inconvenience, Teresa.
